As the Federal Council announced today in a press release, Myriam Heidelberger Kaufmann will take over one of two vacant seats on the Commission as of 1 August 2023.
The independent commission appointed by the Federal Council is composed of twelve experts from the fields of law, medicine, psychiatry, police and the penal system. The NCPT ensures that the rights of persons deprived of their liberty are respected through regular visits to custodial institutions (prisons, psychiatric clinics, homes, etc.) and through continuous dialogue with the authorities.
